EFE became operational in 2004 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, non-governmental organization based in Washington, D.C.

EFE creates a scalable and replicable model for youth employment in the Middle East and North Africa by partnering with local businesses and universities that possess the insight, and credibility for sustainable change in their societies. Through local affiliate foundations, EFE currently operates in Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, the West Bank/Gaza, and Yemen.
