Meet the people who publish content, organise the annual SANGONeT conference, validate entries in our directories, provide technical support to NGOs and engage in various other organisational activities.

ImageDavid Barnard – Executive Director
David Barnard is the Executive Director of SANGONeT since June 2000. Before joining SANGONeT, he managed the Programme for Development Research (Prodder) at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) (1992-2000), establishing the Prodder Directory as the most comprehensive publication on development organisations in Africa. He has published and contributed to more than 30 development publications. His areas of expertise include the role of the international development and funding community in Southern Africa, the role of the NGO sector in Southern Africa, corporate citizenship and the involvement of the corporate sector in development issues, and the contribution of information and ICT in support of development processes. He is a Founding Member of the African Institute for Corporate Citizenship (AICC), Board Member of the Non-Profit Technology Network (N-Ten) and Advisory Board Member of the African Press Organisation. He serves on the Meraka e-Skills Institute Reference Group and in the past served on the Presidential National Commission on the Information Society for Development (PNC-ISD).

ImageNeila Pillay - Finance Manager
Neila manages the finance department at SANGONeT. After obtaining her Diploma in Commerce, she worked in various financial organisations such as Swiss Re South Africa and Naspers. She brings in a number of years of experience from the corporate sector and her strengths include proactive financial management, identifying weaknesses and putting controls in place. ImageMatthew de Gale - ICT Services Manager
Matthew de Gale has worked in NGOs and IT - not always at the same time - for the last nine (9) years. After completing a degree in Philosophy, Politics and History at Rhodes University he consulted for a number of organisations on website and database development, before becoming a research intern at Idasa. This role inexplicably morphed into managing Idasa''s IT infrastructure, and he has been in IT management ever since. Matthew has a particular interest in leveraging the efficiency gains possible with ICTs, into improving the effectiveness of the programmes of NGOs in South - and Southern - Africa.  This is not a bad thing, since he heads up SANGONeT''s ICT Services Programme which aims to do just that. Image Janine Moolman - SANGONeT Portal Editor
Janine (or Jan) Moolman is a feminist editor, writer and activist with extensive experience in the South African women’s rights sector. She is a former editor of Agenda, South Africa’s longest surviving feminist journal; former columnist for The Mercury newspaper in KwaZulu-Natal and has contributed to a number of publications dealing with women and gender issues. She was formerly the editor and Assistant Director at Gender Links, an NGO that promotes gender equality in and through the media in Southern Africa. Prior to joining SANGONeT, Jan worked as the Media and Information Manager at Women’sNet, a Southern African organisation which promotes the strategic use of ICTs amongst women, girls and marginalised groups for social action. ImageButjwana Seokoma – Information Coordinator
Butjwana is responsible for updating content on the SANGONeT portal. His past experience includes working for the Live Africa Broadcasting Corporation, Department of Communications (through the National Electronic Media Institute of SA) as well as the Government Communication & Information System websites. He holds a BA Degree in Humanities, Post Graduate Diploma in Radio Production and a Web Design Certificate. He joined SANGONeT in January 2006. ImageBotswang Kgeledi – Programme Officer
Botswang is responsible for updating content for organisations on external websites that have been developed or re-designed by SANGONeT, he is also a support technician and tends to the technical needs of the organisation. Some of his other responcibilities include providing support for the SANGOTeCH programme. He studied his A+ at Boston City College (BCC) and completed his A+/N+/Server 2003 (NQF Level4) at Torque IT. He Joined SANGONeT in mid 2005 as an intern and has since been employed as a full time employee. ImageNonhlanhla Kunene - Programme Assistant
Nonhlanhla joined SANGONeT in August 2007 as SANGOTeCH Programme Assistant. She is responsible for handling SANGOTeCH programme enquiries, database capturing and overall administration needs. Her past experience includes working for LoveLife as a Groundbreaker Peer Educator as well as an ambassador for the programme. While with LoveLife, she was trained as a facilitator and is currently working towards obtaining her Software Development Diploma. ImageNomsa Nxumalo – Database Project Assistant
Nomsa joined SANGONeT in November 2006 as Database Project Assistant. She is responsible for handling Prodder Directory including, validating, database capturing and overall Prodder Desk administration enquiries. Her past experience includes working for Funda Community College as Personal Assistant and the South African National Anti-Discrimination Forum as Office Administrator. She holds a Secretarial Diploma and Office Administration. She is working towards completing her BA Communication. ImageDipuo Mahanyele – Receptionist
As SANGONeT’s receptionist, Dipuo is the first face you will see when visiting SANGONeT offices and also the voice you can expect to hear when calling the organisation. Her previous experience includes working at the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) in an administratiove capacity department. Dipuo is currently studying towards a Diploma in PA and Administration and also bookkeeping.  She joined SANGONeT in June 2006. ImageEmmah Ramadzulu – Office Assistant
Emmah helps around the office ensuring that all goes smoothly. She has been with SANGONeT since 2000. Emmah is responsible for ensuring that the office is always clean and presentable. She assists with the filing, faxing and general administrative work around the office. Emmah holds a Diploma in Office Administration and a has a computer certificate.
