Australian Drug Foundation (ADF)
Mechanism of Operation
The ADF’s prevention agenda is delivered on a platform of harm minimisation—encompassing a continuum of comprehensive prevention strategies, from abstinence to the management of severe and chronic drug misuse.
The ADF has a non-judgemental view of drug use and considers drug issues from a health perspective. At the same time, we acknowledge that drug use has a legal, social and cultural context.
All strategies and programs, including the ADF’s, are evidence-based. The ADF is committed to developing, disseminating and utilising best practice approaches and strategies.
The ADF develops and delivers programs and services that, wherever possible, integrate the expertise and skills across the organisation’s various directorates.
The ADF’s programs, resources, services and research are best quality, timely, relevant and of practical use to the Australian community.
The ADF takes a consultative and inclusive approach, working in partnership with target groups and key internal and external stakeholders to develop appropriate policies, programs and services.
Equity and accessibility to all ADF services and programs is a central tenet informing the work of the ADF.
The ADF recognises and values its staff, their expertise and knowledge.
Organisationally, the ADF is characterised by operations that are professional, transparent, creative and entrepreneurial. They are underpinned by a commitment to good governance.
The ADF maintains its independence at all times, and refrains from seeking or accepting funds or other support if that independence is likely to be compromised.
