The establishment of the JNCW came in 1992 through a cabinet decree as a semi governmental organization as an assertion of Jordan’s acknowledgement of its international commitment to set up a national mechanism specialized in women’s issues with the aim of empowering women to expand their economic, social and political participation as well as safe guarding their rights in order to achieve a higher level of social justice and equality between men and women in society.
