National Center for Human Resources Development (NCHRD)
History and Background

The name of the “National Center for Human Resources Development” was assumed by the Center in May 1995 as its functions became an extension of those of the “National Center for Educational Research and Development”, which had been functioning since 1990 in accordance with Article 11 of the Law of the Higher Council for Science and Technology No. 30 for 1987. In line with the new trends in focussing on the wider aspects of human resources development, the Center has expanded its operations, in addition to offering support for the education reform process, to be in harmony with the general national strategy underlining the concept of human resources development.

In light of its bye –law which was published in the official gazette on October 1, 1998, the Center has a Board of Directors headed by its president with the following members:
Secretary General of the Higher Council for Science and Technology.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Education.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Planning.
Secretary General of the Higher Education Council.
Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation.
Two members from the private sector.

Missions & Goals:
The primary mission of the Center could be stated as “contributing to the development of Jordanian human resources through improving the effectiveness of the educational and training systems to keep up with socioeconomic requirements”.
