To accomplish the missions, the Center:

Promotes and coordinates research on the natural processes of tropical and subtropical freshwater ecosystems, and the human decision-making processes which affect these systems.

Provides research support, promotes interest from funders, and has stimulated the creation of an international research agenda for tropical and subtropical freshwater ecosystems.

Provides an interactive inventory of the interests, activities, and capabilities of scientists, managers, and other research institutions which affect or concern tropical freshwater systems.

Makes available useful information via periodic publications, scientific conferences, and Internet web sites.

Organizes and supports policy dialogues involving political decision makers, resource managers, scientists, and those with economic interests in the environment.
