In a positive step indicating the genuine desire of the Egyptian government and judiciary to combat crimes of torture committed against Egyptian citizens, Bakr Ahmed Bakr, head of the South Cairo Prosecution Office ordered the detention of on the 24^th December 2006 for four days while their involvement in the rape and sexual torture of Emmad al Kebeer is investigated. The two policemen are investigating officer Islam Nebeih and officer Reda Fathy, both based at Boulaq el Dakrour police station.
