AAPSO has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, and with UNESCO, UNIDO, UNCTAD.

AAPSO is the only international non-governmental organization which enjoys observer status in the Non-Aligned Movement from its inception as well as in the African Committee for Human Rights and Peoples.
