Educating of PLHIV Community on Treatment Issues
HIV/AIDS Palliative Care and Support
Palliative care is aimed at improving the quality of life of patients’ in the terminal stages of disease. For Russia, palliative care is a relatively new service, but it should become an integral part of the complex of HIV/AIDS care.
AIDS infoshare began the program “HIV/AIDS Palliative Care” in 2004. Its goal is to support the development of palliative care for PLHIV/AIDS in Russia. During the implementation of the program AIDS infoshare focused its efforts on the following objectives:
Adoption of an integrated concept of HIV/AIDS palliative care
Development of a model of HIV/AIDS palliative care suitable to the Russian context, its adaptation and implementation in 10 regions of Russia
Provision of informational, methodological and financial support to 10 regions in order to develop HIV/AIDS palliative care.
Development of training program that will allow specialists and volunteers to learn the basics about HIV/AIDS palliative care.
Implementation of HIV/AIDS palliative care programs on the regional and federal level.
