CIELAP performs environmental research that is accurate, balanced, and evidence-based, and uses its findings to encourage laws, policies, and decisions in Canada that support the environment. You can find our publications and other materials in our Publication Centre.

About our Research

CIELAP performs its research under two program headings:

Sustainable Policy Solutions: CIELAP produces research and develops sustainable policy solutions on pressing environmental challenges. Our research efforts focus on emerging and neglected environmental issues with a priority on: waste management; water; and innovative technologies – specifically biotechnology and nanotechnology.

Governance for Sustainability: CIELAP researches and provides leadership in the development of governance models and frameworks that will promote sustainability.

Disseminating our Research

CIELAP uses a variety of strategies to disseminate its research to policy makers, community leaders, and other interested groups and individuals. Our primary means of dissemination is through our Publication Centre, where all of our research is posted and can be downloaded for free.

Knowledge Cluster Meetings
CIELAP''s Knowledge Cluster Meetings bring together individuals to discuss topical issues relevant to CIELAP''s research and to strategize on how to best address them.

Citizens'' Guides
CIELAP''s Citizens'' Guides and other factsheets help the average citizen understand complex sustainability issues and how they can play a role.

CIELAP Blog
CIELAP has set up a blog to tell the stories of Canadians who have reduced their carbon dioxide emissions in innovative ways.
