Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW)
Activities and Programs

SPW currently operates in 8 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia with support programs in the UK, US, and Australia. Each program shares a similar methodology and vision, but is tailored to meet local needs. Please visit the Countries page for information on each country''s particular programmes.

Volunteer Led Programmes (Health, Youth Empowerment, School, Community Resource, Teacher Training)

SPW mobilises young volunteers (aged 18-28) to participate in peer-education programmes which provide young people in rural communities with the information, skills and self-confidence they need to make crucial decisions about the health and environmental issues that affect their lives. Over 90% of these volunteers are nationals of the countries we work in, joined by a small percentage of international (UK, US, Australian, etc) volunteers. By working with and through young people SPW empowers the next generation to act as catalysts for change in their own communities. Visit each country''s page for more information!

Locations: India, Nepal, Sierra Leone*, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe*.

*Indicates that these programs do not accept international volunteers, due to national priorities and situations.

Volunteer Networks and Campaigns
SPW Volunteer Networks and Student Stop Aids Societies are some of the most active and motivated HIV and AIDS campaigners and student groups in higher education institutions. SPW Volunteer Networks support former volunteers when they finish their placements, are involved in shaping the future of SPW and harness their talents and energies to campaign for change.

Locations: Nepal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, US, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Capacity Building
Building on our  expertise in training and supporting young SPW staff members and volunteers to take on meaningful roles within the organization, SPW has taken on new projects to build the capacity of other groups and organizations as well. SPW recently partnered with UNFPA to offer Capacity Building Workshops to 28 young African professionals in the areas of Monitoring and Evaluation and Fundraising and Partnerships.

Dance4Life
Dance4Life is an international initiative to inspire, mobilise, and unite young people in pushing back HIV and AIDS. By serving as the National Concept Owner in six countries, SPW is implementing the Dance4Life project and engaging young people to become "Agents of Change" in their own communities. For more on the global Dance4Life movement, visit their website.

Locations: Sierra Leone, Uganda, UK, US, Zambia, Zimbabwe
