Urban Health Resource Centre (UHRC) is a non-profit organization which addresses the health concerns of the poor living in underserved slum settlements in India . UHRC has been institutionalized in November 2005 from the Environmental Health Project (EHP) India, a USAID supported project, initiated in March 2002.
UHRC provides technical support on urban health to the Government of India, state governments, urban local bodies and NGOs. It works closely with governments , academic and research organizations, professional associations and other stakeholders for enhanced attention and resources for improving health of the urban poor. Research activities undertaken by UHRC better inform policy making and urban health programming efforts. The demonstration urban health programs implemented by UHRC in diverse cities develop and test different strategies of improving health of the urban poor and provide evidence on the effectiveness and more importantly the .how-to. of implementing these strategies. The model programs are designed to be replicated and up-scaled by other government and non-governmental programs.
