Consortium Of Humanaitarian Agencies (CHA)
Activities and Programs

CHA focuses on two main roles to make use of these comparative advantages:
• Functioning as a network with like-minded organisations; and
• Implementing projects on behalf of, and with, its members.

As a network, CHA undertakes tasks such as, membership ethics, coordination and linking, advocacy and lobbying, and acts as an Information Centre on behalf of its members. Through project implementation on behalf of, and with, its members, CHA has developed a niche in areas including:
• Developing and disseminating standards, guidelines, principles, and working methodologies and approaches for the humanitarian sector (including translations);
• Gathering information on humanitarian activities of national and/or international agencies; and
• Providing advisory services to organisations, diplomatic, and international missions and agencies, and others.
 
Administration

Goal:

Develop, maintain, & monitor appropriate administration policies & practices.
Drawing up, developing & implementing internal Admin practices & ensuring adherence.

Infrastructure maintenance.
Objectives:

Broad Objective of the Administration unit of CHA is to provide a support system where activities of the Consortium can be carried out efficiently, effectively and to facilitate continuous improvement of the staff and the working environment. 

Outcomes:

Strengthened management
Provision of Human Resources for Programme activities.
Enhanced infrastructure facilities.
     
Finance

Goal:
Develop, maintain, & monitor appropriate financial policies & practices.
Drawing up, developing & implementing internal financial controls & ensuring adherence.
Produce & update financial regulations.
Produce timely, relevant & accurate financial & management reports.
Objectives:

Broad Objectives of the finance section is to provide and maintain accurate, timely, and relevant financial information and timely financial reporting on CHA activities, facilitate sound financial decision making, efficient disbursement of funds, efficient fund management, timely collection of subscriptions, pledges & other dues 
Outcomes:
Management of Finances conforming to Sri Lankan Accounting standards. 
Maintenance of transparency & accountability in financial practices.
Accurate & timely reporting on Grants.
 
* CHA Financial and Management practices were scrutinised and recommendations were made by Committee members. The Committee comprises of members from other agencies in addition to the CHA Executive Director and Admin. Finance Manager.
