The African American Islamic Institute (AAII) is an international humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), founded in 1988 in Senegal, West Africa by Shaykh Hassan Ali Cisse. AAII’s Mission is to develop sustainable human and natural resources that promote Education, Health Care, Empowerment of Women, Protection of Children, Alleviation of Hunger and Poverty, and Promotion of Peace. As an Institute of Nasrul ‘ilm (Islamic Knowledge Benefiting Humanity), the teachings of Islam provide the foundation for AAII’s humanitarian activities:
