Background of Better Life Association for Comprehensive Development:
BLACD is a non governmental, non-profitable association, established in May 1995, in Minia, Upper Egypt. It was registered as a civil, non governmental non-profitable association in the Ministry of Social Affairs ranking at no. 7 for the year 2003.
BLACD aims to improve the quality of live for the poor and deprived people in Upper Egypt. The Association is directed by a board of trustees that consists of five people; men and women, who have a lengthy experience in social development. The target groups are the Quarry Workers in Minia Governorate, Fishermen in the internal waters of Egypt, the Sponsor Housewives, the Mercenary Farmers, the Casual Labors, the Garbage Collectors and the Working Children in different professions. BLACD follows the approach of Liberation Theology; where BLACD educates the poor about their rights and enables them to make the best use of their recourses.

*Improving living conditions within poor communities that have a lack of services and educating them on how to best express their needs.
