About ASHRM
Founded in 1991, the Arabian Society for Human Resource Management (ASHRM) is a society dedicated to the management and development of human resources and the exchange of information and expertise in this area.

ASHRM is a nonprofit organization that serves the needs of the human resource management professional in the Arab World by providing the most essential and comprehensive set of resources available. In addition, ASHRM is committed to advancing the human resource profession in the Arab World and the capabilities of all human resource professionals to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.

Membership in ASHRM is open to all business and personnel management professionals, students pursuing a degree related to human resource management, and individuals whose interests conform to the objectives of the organization. The diversity, creativity and motivation of this membership are key to ASHRM''s success since its founded in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia 1991.

The other cornerstone of the organization is its wide range of activities, all of which are geared toward ASHRM''s ultimate objective: The development of the Art and Science of Human Resource Management in the Gulf Region. ASHRM organizes a full slate of monthly dinner meeting every year. The meetings are open to both members and non-members. Human resource professionals, executive educators, management consultants, noted authors and business leaders from within the kingdom and around the globe share their thoughts and ideas with ASHRM members at these events. Lively question-and-answer sessions provide audience members with an opportunity to probe the minds of top professionals in the fields of human resource management and training. Just as important are the professional contacts and personal camaraderie, which ASHRM members enjoy at these monthly meetings. First and foremost, ASHRM is an organization committed to people — a fact apparent at all of the society''s events.

Human resource and training issues go beyond national boundaries — and so does ASHRM. The organization''s membership is composed of people from many countries who work and live in Saudi Arabia and Gulf, so ASHRM is itself something of an international organization. Beyond that, ASHRM cooperates with other human resource organizations in the region, such as the Bahrain Society for Training and Development, which has co-sponsored several events with ASHRM for the mutual benefit of both groups. The society does not limit its outreach to regional partners, however. It also strives to maintain close working relationships with the United States based Society for Human Resource Management, the Institute for International Human Resources and the American Society for Training and Development.

So from humble beginnings, the Arabian Society for Human Resource Management has grown into an impressive organization that is truly a leader in the field of human resource management in the region. With a committed membership, a track record of success and high aspiration for the future, ASHRM is indeed an organization on the move.
