The Egyptian Society of Nuclear Medicine Specialists (ESNMS) began on the first day of October 1997 by the first meeting of its ten founding members who wanted to establish an organization that would provide a means of communication and interaction between all sectors working in the field of nuclear medicine; namely physicians, physicists, chemists and engineers.
The society was approved by the responsible government body on 9/12/97, and given the registration number 382/97.
The arabic name of the society was changed in the last meeting of the general assembly. Furthemore, an additional set of goals were added to the society charter. These changes were officially sanctioned by the government licensing authority on May 27, 2000.
Society Organization:
The board of directors consists of 7 members elected by a simple majority from the society members for a working term of 3 years. During its first meeting the board of directors selects the president and vice-president from within its members. The position of secretary general, and treasurer may be occupied by any member of the society as chosen by the board of directors.
Objectives:
Coordinate the efforts of all disciplines involved in the field of nuclear medicine through the interaction between its members that include physicians, physicists, chemists and engineers.
Implement multidisciplinary scientific activities to continuously improve the level of nuclear medicine practice in Egypt.
Facilitate attendance of both national and international meetings by the society members to update their knowledge in nuclear medicine.
Promote communication with the public to allay their fear from the use of radioactive material, and acquaint them with its advantages over other diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
