Board of Directors
El Taller International is governed by a Board of Directors that is duly elected by the General Assembly. The current board is constituted by a collective of wise women and men from all the regions of the world.
President Dr. Nelson Mandela,
has been our Honorary President from the Inception of El Taller.
Youba Sokona (Mali):
The current chair-person of El Taller. He is the Head of the Observatoire Sahra au Sahel (OSS), an Inter-Governmental Organization Based in Tunis, Tunisia. He has coordinated a comprehensive program of research, education and assistance in the field of energy development in Africa and has organized many working groups and courses on the issue of energy, environment and development in the Third World.
Horacio Morales (Philippines):
is President of the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement. He has served on numerous Boards and committees in the Philippines including the Movement for Popular Democracy and the Philippine Peace Secretariat at the International level. Mr. Morales has been in several committees and on International ngos such as CIVICUS.
Justice P. N. Bhagwati (India):
is the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. He has been an advisor to the former President of India, a constitutional advisor to Nepal, Mongolia and Sri Lanka, an advisor to the ILO and the UN Human Rights Commission and President of the National Council of NGDOs.
Jorge Ishizawa (Peru):
was born in Lima, Peru. He has devoted his professional career to diverse aspects of socio-economic planning, systems and informatics both at the Peruvian public administration and international organization. Since 1992 he is collaborating with Proyecto Andino de Tecnologias Campesinas (PRATEC), an institution devoted to the affirmation of the Andean culture. He also teaches at the Graduate School of Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima since 1995. He is a founding member of the Peruvian National Academy of Science and Technology.
Zanele Mbeki (South Africa):
is currently holding full-time employment with an emergent NGO whose operational focus is credit for rural women. She is Trustee/Director of several national and international Boards which promote social and economic development. She studied social work in South Africa and post graduate studies in the UK and USA.
Dr. Biljana Kasic (Croatia)
is a theorist feminist, peace activist and researcher; a co-author and co-editor of various human rights books and articles. She is currently the Programme Coordinator of the Center for Women’s Studies in Croatia and a Lecturer of “Feminism, Women and Aesthetic of the Public Domain”course at the centre. She has worked as a senior research fellow at the institute of Contemporary History for 18 years, and has been a visiting professor at many universities.
Corinne Kumar (India):
Is a sociologist and the present Secretary General of El Taller International. Prior to her coming to Tuns she was the Director of Centre for Development Studies in India. Her recent publications include the editing of two volumes titled Asking, We Walk: South as a New Political Imaginary. She is also a member of the Asian Women''s Human Rights Council. She is sometimes Poet and always a Pilgrim of life.
