METHODOLOGY
- Conduct fact-finding missions to prisons, police stations and detention places.
- Monitor torture cases and violations of prisoners' rights and provide legal aid to victims.
- Organize workshops, intellectual forums and discussion sessions on human and prisoners’ rights, torture and places of detention to raise awareness on the topic
- Issue regular reports on human and prisoners’ rights, torture and places of detention
- Produce and distribute information booklets on prisoners’ rights.
- Establish a legal library to help researchers working on torture and places of detention, particularly on the cases of prisoners of conscience.
- Cooperate with the United Nations and its special committees on torture and human rights, as well as relevant international organizations.
- Provide training courses for lawyers and human rights activists about prisoners’ rights, relevant international instruments ratified by Egypt to create a network defending the mentioned rights and fight torture
INNOVATIVE MECHANISMS
In addition to the above-mentioned traditional mechanisms, we use mechanisms such as the use of films in raising public awareness (The Cinema & Human Rights Program). Moreover, HRAAP plans to use booklets and cartoons to raise the awareness of children in the field of human rights.
