Organization History
In 1997 Azza Women Association (AWA) was officially registered with the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) as a national not – for – profit, non-governmental organization with the main objective to “support women all over the country, with special emphasis on the poor displaced and rural women”. To achieve this objective, AWA extends assistance to the on going efforts to improve the status of Sudanese women irrespective of religion, culture or ethnicity and introduces peace building as a basic tool for conflict resolution and combating violence in the camps and elsewhere in order to help IDP women stay actors and improve the quality of their lives.

AWA mission
Azza Women Association (AWA) is a voluntary national non-profit organization established in 1997. Its main goal is to contribute to the development and empowerment of women in Sudan, irrespective of their ethnic, cultural, political or religious background, with special emphasis on poor women, through implementing a number of programs aiming at raising women awareness, enhancing their livelihood means and building their capacity to achieve better changes to their conditions, and to secure their active and wider participation in all aspects of life. In doing so, AWA is committed to the values of learning, from its own experience and that of others, expanding the span of participation and voluntary work and observing the values of equity, transparency, and accountability in what it does.,
