Historical Background
On 12 Muharam, 1406 HJ, King Saud University issued its historical decision to permit, for the first time, establishing the medical societies in the Kingdom. It was a remarkable day in the Saudi medical rise, indicating the great efforts pursued by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques (may God save him) to push the wheel of the Saudi medical progress. The Saudi Society of Ophthalmology has taken the cake among the Saudi medical societies that have been established immediately after issuing this decision, leading the progress of the ophthalmology in the Kingdom under the headship of H.E. Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud. The Saudi Society of Ophthalmology has pursued its mission to serve this vital sector.
Targets of the Society
i. Developing and promoting the scientific thinking within the ophthalmology sector.
ii. Providing the staff of the ophthalmology with the opportunity to contribute to the progress of this field.
iii. Facilitating the process of exchanging the expertise and the scientific ideas in the relevant matters among the concerned societies within and outside the Kingdom. iv. Providing the consultancy and carrying out the studies necessary to promote the performance of the society inside the various authorities and institute.
