The African Sudanese Association of Calgary was incorporated as a non-profit community based organization in May 2003.
The aim of the African Sudanese Association of Calgary is to help members of the Sudanese community settle and integrate into the Calgary region.
We do this through providing a range of programs and services for the local Sudanese community; facilitating education and information sharing opportunities; and developing partnerships with other immigrant serving agencies in Calgary and surrounding region.
Our objectives are to:
Maintain an office or community centre for the administration of programs and activities
Support Sudanese families in obtaining necessary life skills to become self-sufficient in accessing schools, employment and community resources
Offer a forum for free exchange of ideas on issues concerning Sudanese
Promote better understanding of Sudanese culture in Canada
Establish and maintain a library or reading room
Provide orientation and assistance other than finanacial, to newlay arrived Sudanese immigrants to life in Calgary
Organize functions which promote social interaction and understanding between members and their community in Alberta
Receive and maintain funds through fundraising for education, social and humanitarian purposes of the Sudanese families

To have a community that helps immigrants integrate successfully into Canadian society by working creatively to improve the individual''s confidence and sense of empowerment through cultural adaptation.
ASAC is committed to offering educational and social programs to Sudanese and other immigrants in Alberta and other regions in Canada based on the idea of being each other''s keeper and a desire to see immigrants become self-sufficient.
To build a more independent and successful Sudanese community in Calgary and area. We are working to enhance and improve the lives of the Sudanese and other immigrants by providing necessary information and services.
