We recognise that facing a serious illness presents many difficulties and challenges. We recognise and nurture the special emotional, spiritual and physical needs which the whole family experiences when someone is very ill. That is why we attend to the physical symptoms, psychological, social and spiritual needs of our patients and extend our support to their families, children, friends and significant others.
Therefore, our aims are to:
- help patients live as fully as possible
- enhance their quality of life
- support families
We do this by providing pain and symptom relief, addressing psychological, social and spiritual issues and by providing a support system for both patients and families to help them cope during the illness and in their bereavement.
OUR SERVICES ARE FREE
In order to continue caring for people who are seriously ill and to support those close to them at no charge, we constantly need to raise funds. Around one third of our funding comes directly from the Department of Health. The balance must be raised from the generosity of our benefactors, our sponsors and the public in general together with fund raising events and legacies.
