The volunteers that founded the Third World Group achieved this by first working abroad and working with the Missionaries of Charity. In Malta they located an area where their intervention was needed most and worked there. Through the years they changed both areas and the type of work, always striving to dedicate their energies to any subgroup that silently was pleading for someone to help it.
This day, always keeping in mind the tracks on which it started rolling, the group is still working with emarginated societies. The bulk of our work through the year is done with children. Most of these children are growing up in ''the other end of the spectrum''. Their life is nothing like what it should be, where our harshest problems are their daily bread and butter.
However, we do not do any counselling sessions or anything like that. Our work is done from young volunteers most of whom have no experience at all with working in such an environment, but are all enthusiastic about life. Here we gather around fifty children and present them with activities such as crafts, drama, reading, playing or cooking some sweets, once or twice a week.
