GreenHome
GreenHome is the Australian Conservation Foundation’s sustainable living outreach program. GreenHome empowers ordinary Australians to help the environment by making simple changes at home and in their lifestyle. Through community workshops, publications and online participation, people learn how to save energy, water and waste and make their homes more efficient and comfortable.
Since the program commenced in January 2005, significant behaviour change has been achieved by thousands of participants across Victoria and New South Wales - from shorter showers to sustainable home renovations. In 2007, GreenHome won the prestigious Banksia Education Award from the Banksia Environmental Foundation.
The Climate Project - Australia
The Climate Project - Australia (TCP) is Al Gore’s climate change leadership program with ACF. To date Al Gore has personally trained 250 Australian volunteers to deliver an Australian version of his climate crisis presentation. Each Climate Project presenter is schooled in the science, impacts and solutions to climate change before delivering the presentation to community and peer networks.
Through the delivery of TCP presentations in 2007 and 2008, hundreds of thousands of Australians have heard a climate change presentation from a volunteer Climate Project presenter. Across Australia, TCP has inspired many community initiatives, including solar bulk buy schemes in Queensland and the ACT. The enthusiasm and commitment of audiences after a presentation is reflected in their ongoing actions and involvement. Together, we can achieve sustainability within a generation. Over 90% of ACF’s funds come from individual supporters. The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) is committed to inspiring people to achieve a healthy environment for all Australians.
