The Study and Research Group on Democracy and Economic and social Development in Africa main aims are:

  to promote reflection on application and reinforcement of democratic ideals and principles in Africa through research and studies;

  to contribute to the economic and social development; the education and information of African populations; through projects, proposals, conferences, discussion and civics-oriented education programmes;

  to promote the defence of citizen''s and consumer rights

  to produce publications of all sorts on democracy and economic liberalism

  to conduct all activities allowing these objective to be achieves.

It refrains from taking part in any political or partisan activities allowing at winning political power and act independently of any political party.

However, member of the GERDDES may be affiliated on an individual and personal basic to a political party whose objectives are not contrary to democracy and economic liberalism.
