YMCA Homeless
History and Background

In collaboration with Guinness World Records, YMCA Homeless is announcing a brilliant fundraising event: let''s break the Guinness World Record for the Most Simultaneous Games of Scrabble! This record was set in 2006 in Singapore. We think we can do much better and put Malta, and you in the Guinness Book of Records.

The event will take place on Friday 27 August at 5:30 pm, at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Floriana. We are very ably helped by the Malta Scrabble Club whose members will ''referee'' the event. So... what are you waiting for? You can sign up here.

YMCA Homeless helps adults, children and families in need. We have an emergency shelter for homeless adults and a shelter for homeless children. Nobody stays in our shelters for long: it is our job to help them back on their feet again as soon as possible.

Furthermore, every day our social workers assist some 60 persons from all walks of life.

Professional services like these cost a lot of money - € 270,000 a year. The government funds about 15% of our operational costs. The rest always has to come from fund-raising campaigns such as this Scrabble World Record event and donations.
