Capacity Building and Business Development Services Unit
NHF’s Capacity Building and Business Services Development (CBBDS) Unit originated as a body within the Quality of Life Project and later emerged as a separate entity to accommodate the specialized training needs of local communities.
Qudorat
People living with poverty have the talent and determination to take control of their lives. What they often lack is support and expert guidance. Qudorat is a national program, launched in 2004, designed to develop the capabilities of local community-based organizations (CBOs) across Jordan to lead socio-economic development initiatives
Local Development Program for Less Privileged Areas
Despite impressive economic reforms, steady growth and a decline in national poverty rates, Jordan still faces challenges in creating economic opportunities equitably for all. Twenty six poverty pockets have been identified across the country, where poverty rates sometimes reach as high as 73%.
NHF believes that the agents of change can only be the members of a community themselves. Empowered communities can help create employment, contribute to the economy, and ultimately improve standards of living.
Quality of Life
The Quality of Life (QOL) project has been the major vehicle of the Noor Hussein Foundation for sustainable community development and capacity building at the grassroots level. Founded in 1989 with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), QOL developed innovative models to improve the overall quality of life of underprivileged communities and remote rural areas.
Aqaba Center
The Aqaba Center trains unemployed secondary school graduates and disadvantaged women in the production of marketable tourist items. Since its inception in 1986, the number of beneficiaries has exceeded 50,000, a majority of them women. Through its projects, the Aqaba Center addresses the economic, social and cultural needs of families in Aqaba.
