Programs :
SVF community activities as follows:
1. Informal Community Educational Program
To promote informal community educational process, concepts and practice as an opportunity for social change in Palestine, which is based on community intervention, psychological support and training and legal consultation.
A number of these activities had already implmented in 2004 by a support of MAP-UK to conduct activation activities for more than 800 child and an awareness sessions and training for group of women in community intervention and psycho-social support
Furthermore, SVF will be supported by Jerusalem Fund for Education and Community Development to enhance the abilities of slow learners’ student aged 6-12 years old in order to enable them to be much more responsive to educational process. For example, Society Voice aims through this program to provide training, consultation focusing on a theoretical understanding of the concepts problems-solving and human rights and a practical understanding of people own rights as an individual by using media and information dissemination
SVA is to contribute to lay a foundation for a truly empowered society. People who understand their rights, and can express that understanding in non-violent and constructive ways, are much more able to defend their rights when they are violated. Through the activities, the Society Voice concentrates on certain children's and women problems and community at large.
2. Youth Participatory Development Program
SVF aims to build the leadership capacities and knowledge of 600 young leaders in the Gaza Strip, by training young people aged 18 to 25 in the principles and techniques of conflict resolution and peace builidng democrcay. The program assists the youth to practice their newly acquired skills. Young leaders will also have the opportunity to stimulate the Palestinian democratic debate by the organisation of community campaigning activities. SVF will work with Gaza universities with the objective of building a future democratic leadership. To sustain the activiy, youth conducts campaigns, which promote community participation.
3. Empowering Women Political and Social Participation Program
SVF aims at raising the level of awareness of the target group in what concerns their social and political situation; raising their organizational and administrative capacities; empowering their leadership and initiative. It also focuses on raising their capacity in understanding democracy practices, principles of election campaigns and political participation; strengthening their critical scientific research skills for laws and giving them skills in influencing decision-makers. In this regard, SVF also succeeded in establishing five women forum. This forum includes 125 young women, who participated in training of women political empowerment project. The aim of establishing this forum came as a real demand by women to continue meeting over the SVA and have a regular meetings to discuss their issues. It several meetings so far and they proposed working on reach to measure the acceptance of society to have women members in the local authorities' councils.
4. Media Production and Outreach Program:
SVF believes that media is a very powerful tool to contribute towards positive change in the Palestinian society. Therefore, SVF relies on media in implementing a number of its activities. Therefore, SVF in cooperation with a number of local organizations organize a weekly live Radio program to discuss certain issues according to the priorities of society at large. SVF facilitates and prepare the Radio programs in which a number of decisions-maker at all levels inviting to converse with ordinary citizens and young women about their roles. The program contributes to stimulate the public mood and the Palestinian street. In this context, SVF, in cooperation with number of organizations, SVF also designs, prints out and distributes in Arabic (bi-monthly edition- 10000 copies each of a supplement with Al Ayyam local newspaper (newsletter) including different point views in the Palestinian society, articles relevant to community development, women empowerment, elections etc. In that sense, we believe that such tools will contribute to educating people in transparent, accountable and good governance including women roles.
5. Civil Society Studies and Researches Department
To share information with the public and enriching civil society materials, Society Voice Foundation has run so far more than seven public polls and fields surveys on the presidential elections, municipal elections and the state of anarchy in the Palestinian society- most recently conducted surveys on” youth needs and impact of violence on Youth” - “measure the acceptance of community towards the participation of women in the local authority councils.
6. International Cooperation and Culture Exchange Department
Society Voice Foundation is open to deepen and develop its international network with other cultures and civilizations. SVA believes international cooperation contribute to great extent in empowering organizational and social change community development in Palestine in particular, regional and world development at large. We believe this could be achieved by run mutual dialogue and staff exchange and joint activities.
7. Support Small Local Initiatives Department
Society Voice Foundation, through this department aims at enhancing the small local initiatives, which are very indispensable and imperative for the Palestinian community development. SVF has been working closely with some groups, providing technical assistance in different recreational activities fields and sport in particular.
