LEBANESE NGO’S NETWORK - OVERVIEW
The “Lebanese NGOs Network” (Collectif) is a non-profit “joined coordination entity” that believes in the dignity and worth of the human being and operates to enable every person entitling his rights via civil society’s institutions without distinction of political and cultural choices, or social and economical capacities.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Between 1962 and 1968, Mouvement social took initiative for the establishment of four sectoral coordination committees. The activities of these Coordination committees evolve: regular meetings, congresses, common projects were conducted until 1975, when the coordination committees had to stop their activities in consequences of the civil war.
Between 1980 and 1986, in a new attempt to revive coordination despite the war, seven NGOs gather in an informal structure: “Committee for preparation of coordinations” leading to the creation of new coordination committees.
In 1992 the group expands to 14 associations, acquires an official status and becomes the “Collectif des ONGs du Liban”.
