Implemented activities:
1- On 21-06-2004 the Japanese Ambassador Mr. Yuichi Ishii and in the presence of the local council general secretary of Taiz governorate inaugurated the skills and handicrafts development center from which we target reduction of unemployment and combating poverty among the youth by making them acquire new skills and professions that assist them to meet the requirements of life. The Center consists of five sections namely: sewing, tailoring, embroidery, tricot, the second section for weaving and the third section for ceramic and gifts and the fourth section is for computer and internet and finally the last section is for training and qualification in administrative skills such as projects management, accounting and marketing. The Skills Development Center was created through an assistance of the Japanese Embassy in Sana''a.
2- The Center and with support by Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Sana''a has organized during the period 15 to 30 August 2004 a training course on how to manage non governmental organizations and how to apply for funding for 25 leaderships of civil society organizations in Taiz governorate. The course targeted giving participants the knowledge on how to manage non governmental organizations, project management, follow up and evaluation of these projects.
3- In the framework of the course to manage non governmental organizations, the Center organized meetings for participants of the civil society organizations in Taiz with a number of representatives of donor organizations in Yemen, such as Mrs. Gaziela Trukenbrod The Trading attaché of the Germen Embassy in Sana''a, Mr. Ahmed Al Yemani from the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation , Mr. Yousif Toma the Yemen German Cooperation Director of the Mirco Projects and Private Sector Development of the Technical Cooperation Organization (GTZ), and the Social Fund for Development), in which explanations were given concerning the aspects of activities supported by these organizations and the procedures to be followed for receiving support. Participants also received training on filling forms of the Social Fund for Development by the trainer Nabeel Al-Hakimi, who is a consultant of the Fund.
4- Within the program of limiting poverty among the youth, the German Ambassador Mr. Frank M. Mann inaugurated on 29 September 2004 the computer and internet unit by assistance from the Germen Embassy. The computer unit targets acquiring skills of computer and internet use by the youth to face requirements of life by gaining new skills and professions that cope with the technological developments. The computer and internet unit is considered part of the Skills and Crafts Development Institute established by the Center with support from the Japanese and German Embassies in Sana''a.
5- The Center supported part of the cultural competitions organized by Al-Dhia Quranic Memorization Center in the countryside Duba region in Ramadhan 1425 AH corresponding to October 2004 AD within the plan to expand the rural center activity and establish relations with rural organizations to implement joint activities serving the youth in the countryside for which the Center provided material support.
6- Within the youth program, the human rights and democracy, which is one of the main programs of the Youth Center, the Center implemented, for the third year consecutively, the third training course for the Yemeni universities students on human rights to get them involved in democracy in the town of Hodeidah and for the period 27 November until 2 December 2004 with support from Ebert Fredrich Institution and the British Embassy in Sana''a in which 40 trainees from the universities of Hodeidah, Taiz, Ibb, Sana''a and Hadhramout participated as well as youth sectors in different political parties and civil society organizations in Hodeidah governorate. The topics of the course focused on the principles and concepts of human rights and democracy. The course addressed also the convention of eradicating all forms of discrimination against women, the Yemeni constitution and laws, comparison with international conventions, relationship between democracy and human rights and the women rights. The course has also addressed the importance of the Yemen youth political participation. There were also several workshops about gender and political participation of women. Participants acquired knowledge in the field of human rights and democracy. There was active participation for girls in the course where the number of participants amounted to 17 girls from different colleges, political parties and national organizations.
7- The third training session of the Yemeni universities students on the human rights and democratic participation, which was held in Hodeidah during the period 27 November until 2 December 2004 formed groups of university youths to create awareness of human rights and democratic participation. These groups are four in number namely: the awareness commission of human rights, information commission, democratic participation commission and a commission for combating exploitation of the youth votes for elections. These commissions work in creating awareness of the democratic participation freedom, local laws and international conventions and the importance to activate the role of the youth in political participation within plans and projects elaborated and voluntarily implemented by the youth.
8- The Center organized for two weeks during the period 03-10 until 17-10 a training session of signal language targeting 12 participants of teachers, university students and journalists. The objective of the session was to educate the community of the importance and right of the deaf-mute and to mobilize the community forces to assist this category and to break the silence barrier between the deaf-mute and the remaining categories of the society. The session targets also the development of the targeted category skills with a view of facilitating interaction with the remaining members of the deaf-mute community and to disseminate the signal language considered as an international language not limited to a specific country. The participants gained knowledge on how to deal with this category of the deaf-mute.
9- On 16-03-2004 and at the premises of the Danish Coordination Office (Danmila) the director of the Center Mr. Abdulla AbdulElah met with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation and the Director of the Center presented a report about the previous activities of the Center explaining in detail the different programs of the Center. A discussion took place about the Yemen civil society organizations. It is worth mentioning that the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation came with a view to hold consultations about opening an office for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support civil society organizations in Yemen.
10- In Sana''a and on 5 March 2004, The Director of the Center met the President of the American Imagine Nations Group Organization Mr. Rick Little and Mrs. Elizabeth Dowling, the Executive Director of the organization and Mrs. Nadia, the Assistant of the Organization President, during which the Center presented a general overview of the Center activities as well as being introduced to the activities of the Imagine Nations Group Organization and reviewed the future cooperation aspects of the Center with the organization.
11- The center issued one short story group ( an wa hafedi ) for the author Abdul-Elah sallam in coordination with Abbadi Printing and press center.
12- On 8-1-2005 We Inaugurated brunch in Al-Turba region the skills and handicrafts development center from which we target reduction of unemployment and combating poverty among the youth by making them acquire new skills and professions that assist them to meet the requirements of life. 13- Journeys:-
The Center organized several of journeys to group of youth , the aim way to get acquainted about new places and to make the cooperation soul among youth where as the journeys were to Ibb City , Bora''a region in Hodiadah and Aden.
Visitors of the Youth Center:
On 22 March 2004 The Center was visited by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Delegation and the European Mediterranean Network represented by Mr. Mogens Blom, the Advisor at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mrs. Marit Floe Jorgensen , the Information Officer of the European Mediterranean Network of Human Rights.
Mrs. Kumiko Iwasawa, Projects Officer at the Japanese Embassy and Mr. Mohamed Al-Lawzi, Public Relations Officer of Haiel Saeed Anam Group of Companies visited the Center on 18-02-2004 to be acquainted to its activities. Means of cooperation and Support by the Japanese Embassy in Sana''a to the future activities of the youth Center were also discussed.
On 21/6/2004 Mr. Yuichi Ishii, the Japanese Ambassador in Sana''a visited the Center to open the institute of skills and handicrafts institute funded by the Japanese Embassy in Sana''a as well as to be acquainted about the activities of the Center and its future projects. His Excellency the Ambassador, was accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Ahmed AlHajj, the Local Council Secretary General in Taiz governorate and AbdulRahman Thabet, the Information Officer at the Japanese Embassy in Sana''a.
Mr. Yousif Toma, the Yemen German Cooperation Director of the Mirco Projects and Private Sector Development visited the Center on 28-6-2004 and was received by Mrs. Abeer Raweh, the Director of Relations Unit at the Center who provided full presentation of the Center activity and the different units of the Center were also visited.
Mr. Tobias Tunkel, the German Cultural Attaché visited the Center on 30-06-2004 and reviewed with the Director of the Center its activities and means to support its cultural and sportive activities.
On 30/08/2004 Mrs. Gaziela Trukenbrod The Trading attaché of the Germen Embassy visited the Center and reviewed with the Director of the Center its activities and the support which from the Germen Embassy to the Center
Mr. Handrick Zila, the Cultural and Information Attaché at the German Embassy accompanied by Mrs. Yudit Tespeter of the German Agency for Scientific Exchange visited the Center on 6 September 2004.
Mr.Frank M. Mann The German Ambassador in Sana''a , his wife and Mr. Abdulmalek Almarhabi , visited the Center on 29 September 2004 to be acquainted about the activities of the Center and its future projects.
On 6/9/2004 Mrs. Iveta Bartunkova, Programs Officer at the British Antislavery Organization, which stands against slavery in the world visited the Center and got acquainted with a number of the Center activities.

• Participation in the workshop about discussion sessions to strengthen women candidacy for 2006 organized on 06-07 and 8 of July 2004 by the American Democracy Institute (NDI) in Sana''a in which Mrs. Adila Raweh and Abdulla AbdulElah also participated.
• Mr. Nabeel Al-Azazi, the Center Coordinator in Sana''a participated in the special meeting with Africa, Meddle East and the Gulf Officer in the Kingdom of The Netherlands, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Michel Den Hong who held a meeting at the Embassy building on 25 January 2004 attended by a number of civil society organizations and Yemeni political parties'' leaderships.
• Mr. Abdulla AbdulElah, the Director of the Center participated in the special meeting with the German Parliament Speaker and the civil society organizations in Yemen held in Taj Sheba Hotel in Sana''a on 16-02-2004.
• Participation in the symposium about the State Performance in Politics, organized by the Cultural Development Programs Planning Institution during the period 03 to 05 April 2004 in which lawyer/ Osama Al-Asbahi was also a participant.
• Participation at the special workshop about the role of civil society organizations in the implementation of the poverty alleviation strategy during the period 07 to 09 September 2004 at the Ministry of Planning.
• Mr. Osama Al-Asbahi, participated at the first meeting about women and political parties in Yemen organized by the Arab Sisters Forum for Human Rights on 05-08-2004 .
• On 22 August 2004 lawyer/ Osama Al-Asbahi, the member of the Center attended the special meeting with the representative of the International Amnesty International Organization and the meeting focused on the international Campaign to combat violence against women. The meeting took place in Sana''a.
External Participations:
• Mrs. Abeer Raweh, the Foreign Relations Unit Officer in the Center and with nomination from the Women Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports participated in the girls'' scouts camp held in Cairo during the period 16-27 July 2004 under the slogan "the role of women in making social peace".
• She also participated, by nomination from the Olympic Commission in Sana''a in the Youth Meeting within the Olympiad Actions in Athens in August 2004.
• Lawyer/ Osama Al-Asbahi and Journalist/ Thuraya Damag as representatives of the Center participated in the Youth Summer Camp during the period 25-30 August 2004 held at Al-Faied Town in Swiss under the slogan "the youth, human rights and development in the Arab World" which was organized by the National Association of Human Rights and Development in Cairo. Participants from many Arab countries also attended the conference.
• Mrs. Thuraya Damag participated at the seminar "legal impediments of civil society" held in 5 September 2004 and organized by the Arab Program of Human Rights Activists and held at the premises of Al-Saeed Association in Cairo.
• Mr. Abdulla AbdulElah, the Director of the Center participated in the meetings of the Arab Social Forum Establishment held in Cairo on 27 and 28 May 2004. Our Center participated in the Forum Preparation Committee.
• The Director of the Center participated in the Special Seminar of the Great Middle East Project, held in Cairo during the period 30 to 31 May 2004 and organized by the African – Asian Peoples Solidarity Organization and the seminar papers focused on reform initiatives in the region and the political and security dimensions of the great Middle East and also tackled the situation in Iraq and the opportunities and risks of the Great Middle East Project.
The Results of 2004:
o 50 youth Trained about the participation of Democracy and human rights.
o The Center support was rising more than 200% compared with 2003.
o There are more than 75 press news and investigations about the Center in Arab and local news paper.
o 80 Youth Trained in hand crafts.
o -30 members of NGOs in Taiz trained to manage NGOs and Projects.
o 15 Youth Trained in signal language.
o We participated in established Arabian Social forum which include more than 80 organization in Arab native.
