CIVITAS implements a voter election through a U.S AID project "TAMKEEN" to conduct voter education for the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) election that will take place next January 25th , 2006; the project is targeting the grassroots to increase their awareness in the marginalized areas of the Gaza Strip.
CIVITAS implements a "Parliament of Youth Project" with other partners from the WB; the project carries out activities like workshops for youth, youth pre-election, policy analysis for the government's legislations towards youth, and how to create a peaceful and non-violent environment for youth.
CIVITAS has been elected to occupy the seat of the general secretary in Gaza of the Palestinian Local Committee of Election Monitoring on behalf of 120 local organizations of Palestine that had trained and participated in the Presidential Election had taken place Jan. 5th, 2005; also CIVITAS took the same role in the local election as well. The committee has about 1,200 observers who demonstrate 120 organizations.
CIVITAS produced recently an animation movie about children rights in Palestine which is considered the first production in the country where it was based on educating the children by holding several workshops with children to adapt and reinforce the values and concepts of human rights that the movie addresses.
CIVITAS has a long term program of capacity building to strengthen the Community Based Organizations (CBO's) among vulnerable civil society organizations; the program is targeting a mixture of women, children, and rehabilitation organizations.
CIVITAS has the capability to implement civic education programs, advocacy training and workshops, public meetings between representatives and constituents, community needs assessments and researches, recruiting and mobilizing volunteers, raising the grassroots participation, and enhancing the accountability and the transparency of the officials in the formal and governmental agencies.
