Projects already carried out :
Since its foundation in 2004, BSU has carried out a number of activities in semi-project formats that included :
Mass awareness :
BSU has accomplished some mass awareness activities that referred to the Somali prolonged civil conflict and people’s social disintegration that has resulted from political confusion and other ills from tribalism as cultural negatives.
Poor Child Development Centers :
BSU has promoted temporary centers for teaching poor families children at the slummy out skirts of Mogadishu city, and those internally displaced families that have streamed to the urban areas from rural settlements and mainly settled at the metropolitan peripheries, as a result of inter-clan violence.
Adult Education :
BSU also promotes literacy campaign for the adults mostly Women and the youth (of both genders) that have grown above the school prime age, due to the effect of civil wars that started in 1990.
Fundraising :
The financial funding for the activities carried out so far has not been received from aid agencies, but merely from local fundraising by member students from the regions schools and Universities as well as local people.
BSU Expansion :
At first, has set its headquarters' in Mogadishu. Then after one year, we have opened offices at outreaches of some regions, just to extend our administration outside the capital.
Programs :
In as much as BSU is an institutional entity, it prepares its own or concerned programs, whether solely or collaboratively (with other agencies or parties). Such programs include non-formal education, as:
1- Reintegration trainings :
• Literacy
• Trades skills
2- Poor child development
3- Women development
4- Eradication of local harmful customs
5- Awareness against bloody conflicts, as BSU is engaged in People’s awareness of local violence, social disintegration and cultural negatives as well as the advantages and benefits of reconciliation and social cohesion and understanding values.
