The International Reading Association sponsors meetings, workshops, and conferences throughout the world.  The premier event for the International Reading Association is its annual convention, which attracts about 20,000 attendees.

The International Reading Association publishes a variety of materials for its members and others interested in reading and reading instruction.  It adds 25–30 new book titles each year and publishes four journals, The Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Reading research Quarterly, and Lectura y Vida.  In addition, the archive of its electronic journal, Reading Online,  is available at http://www.readingonline.org/.
