Due to this governing policy, the YMWA has set up the following institutions:
1. The Centre For Special Education (1974). It trains 175 mildly to moderately mentally challenge students from birth up to 25 years old in its Pre-School, School, and Pre-Vocatioal sections. Some graduates of the Centre pursue further training at the Association's Sheltered Workshop set up in 1987for training and helping graduates find jobs in the open market.
2. Princess Sarvath College (1980) offers a diploma of middle higher education after the female student completes a two-year program in one of the College's various specializations.
3. The National Centre for Learning Difficulties (1995) diagnoses, makes recommendations and draws individual educational plans to help young students overcome learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, etc. and eventually pursue their studies smoothly instead of dropping school because of academic frustration. The Centre also offers a higher diploma in learning difficulties to teachers in order to become licensed Resource Room teachers in government and private schools.
It is worth mentioning here that the fees paid by students is nominal - way below the actual cost because our students are mainly from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
