The Association of Forty
Activities and Programs

Achievements:
During its working years since 1988, The Association of Forty has realized many achievements in its struggle, the most salient of which are set out below:
* Achieving official recognition of eight unrecognized villages in the North, and annexing many neighborhoods and small localities to the juridical areas of adjacent Arab towns. The villages which were recognized are: Ein Hod, Domeida, Kammaneh, Husseiniya, Humeira, Khawaled, El-Arian and Ras El-Ein. The Association of Forty considers the government''s intention to adopt the suggestions of a public committee and to make them official decisions of the government as an important indicator of a substantial change in its political approach towards the Arab minority for the first time since the establishment of the State, as the policy of the government towards these villages throughout the past four decades was characterized by attempts to demolish these villages, to transfer their residents and to confiscate their lands. The Association considers the issuing of recognition orders of the eight villages as an important victory and an achievement in the process of its struggle; this gives hope to the realization of more recognition''s in the coming years, until the solution of the problem of all the unrecognized villages is obtained.
 * The achievement of this important recognition was realized thanks to the strenuous efforts of The Association of Forty as embodied in the professional Master Plan which suggested solutions for these villages relying on the principles of their non-demolition, the non-transference of their residents, and bestowing upon them the right to live and develop on the lands that they inherited from their ancestors.
* The struggle against land confiscation and demolishing Arab houses.
* Among the achievements which led to the principal one was presenting the case of these villages to the Knesset and its different committees and putting it on their agenda via the parliamentary lobby which The Association of Forty established and which comprises members from the various Arab and Jewish parties.
* Preparing a study on the National Outline Plan No. 31 which shows the areas of discrimination against Arab citizens highlighted by the study. This study served to open a public struggle in the Arab sector against Plan No. 31, which demanded that it be changed to include the requirements and rights of the Arab community.
