Fields of vocational training:
The society presents several occupation activities, for both boys and girls, through its different centers. The occupational training is supervised by professionals and experts. The services offered by the society, in this respect, are:
1. Carpentry activity:
The activity is divided into two sections (the maintenance and painting section and the woodwork section)
2. Book Binding Activity:
Includes the binding and stitching of books, and making leather sets of office furniture.
3. Agriculture Activity:
In this section members are trained on sowing of needs and how to take care of the plants regarding their irrigation, cleaning and planting. The section pays particular attention to indoor plants.
4. Electricity Activity:
Based on training members to be familiar with low voltage electricity connections. This activity is designed for members with interest.
5. Handicraft and Iron products Activity:
This is designed for training members to make boxes with different sizes and shapes from iron sheets, in addition to plates and other appliances and shapes made of iron sheets.
6. Typing Activity :
One of the distinguished activities of the center is training in typing-using typewriter and PC.
7. Fine Arts Activity:
Including drawing, painting, drawing on glass, fiber works and wood engraving.
8. Health Activity:
The center holds during the year simplified courses in First Aid to train some people with special needs to protect themselves and assist others who may be exposed to danger or harm.
9. Textile Activity:
Includes some hand made products.
The Society''s Programs:
As an integral part of its activities, the Society organizes many programs such as:
1. Cultural programs:
The cultural programs are regarded most important activities of the society. The objective of such programs is to increase awareness and culture among the people with special needs through the following means:
- Organizing cultural competitions
- Issuing cultural publications
- Organizing field tours to cultural sites
- Developing cultural tendencies by encouraging the writing of articles and short stories.
- Organizing cultural and literary meetings with other concerned parties.
2. Social and Entertainment Programs:
Social and entertainment programs are an important part of the society''s main plan. It aims to avail opportunities for members to interact with the other members of the community through field visits, and periodical entertainment programs, particularly those organized in participation with the other cultural institutions and youth centers.
3. Al-Hayat Magazing:
In line with the society''s policy to promulgate comprehensive awareness among the people with special needs, the cultural and social center issues a periodical magazine called Al-Hayat, which cover issues of disability and other aspects of concern to the people with special needs including social, medical, psychological, rehabilitation and sport topics. The magazine is distributed free of charge to ministries, governmental departments, domestic institutions and external associations and centers.
