Activities and Programs

Completed Projects

Sanitation acceleration programme

Project Objectives:
• Advocacy & Social Mobilization through workshops with District Government and school
competition
• Capacity Building and awareness
• Provision of proper sanitation facilities

Outcomes:
o Availability of clean drinking water to about 2000 people through installation of 20 hand
pumps.
o Latrine facility became available to about 1600 people including school children through
construction of 200 latrines.
o Batter health conditions for women and children
o Through promotion of hygiene education at school level, approximately 500 children
became aware of hygienic practices and importance of cleanliness in their lives.
Hygiene education at household level also gave direct benefit to about 1200 people in
various villages of the project area.

Rehabilitation & Improvement of Irrigation system

Project Objectives:
• Formation of Men and Women Community Organizations (COs)
• Rehabilitation and Management of Indigenous Spring Irrigation System
• Capacity Building of COs

Outcome:
o The water storage capacity of five water ponds increased from 8905 cubic feet (cft.) to
20989 cft. after project interventions
o After rehabilitation of irrigation structures, the cultivable land increased from 129 acres
to 180 acres, which becomes 40% increase.
o Wheat production increase from 232 tons to 322 tons in only one cropping season
after project interventions.
o With the increased wheat production of 90 tons, it is estimated that it will generate
revenue of Rs. 0.9 million in only cropping season.

School Health Services for Afghan Refugee Children
Project Objectives:
• To provide primary health care services and raises awareness in the field of health and
hygiene
• To provide healthy environment for school children through rehabilitation of Water and
Sanitation facilities in primary schools
• To provide information and a platform to develop and enhance abilities and skills of the
target children

Outcome:
o A total of 222 teachers, councillors and parents of the area participated in these
trainings. Group discussions were also held in these trainings.
o About 366 school children of the area participated in the poster competitions and
became part of awareness campaign of project
o A total of 120 children and 16 teachers participated in the two exposure visits to enjoy
batter environmental conditions
o Proper drinking and sanitation facilities were provided in 20 schools

Projects under Progress

Community Forestry
Project Objectives:
• To introduce community based sustainable watershed management towards improved
forest cover, rangelands, hillside agriculture and water harvesting practices.
• To introduce alternative low cost source of energy as fuel efficient stoves, coal dust
briquette and others in the area
• To build capacity and enhance awareness among the custodian communities for
sustainable use of natural resources
Targeted Outcome:
o Plantation cover on 15 acres and income generation for beneficiaries through compact
plantation
o Availability of plants for community for forest plantation through forest nursery
o Management and improvement of Mazri forest on 50 acres and income generation of
local communities through innovative Mazri products
o Reduction in soil erosion and increased forest cover through plantation of 10000 plants
on streams and water channels
o 150 acres under forest cover through involvement of local communities
o 200 acres rehabilitation
o Increase in area of cultivation near hill side through batter water shed management
covering 200 acres
o Reduction in fuel wood and introduction of low cost technology
o Capacity building of community to enhance management of natural resource
o Clean drinking water facility for about 1600 villagers through construction of 10 water
filtration plants

Strengthening civil society participation to promote and defend
workers rights

Project Objectives:
• Strengthening civil society organizations in order to promote and implement the
cooperation agreement between the European Community and the Islamic Republic of
Pakistan on partnership and development
• To improve communication among NGOs and Trade Unions and enhance their skills to
create a well informed and well trained NGOs and NGO Trade Union Network, that can
implement the activities of mobilization and information to strengthen the work
• To assist in developing training manuals, imparting training, increasing the legal capacity
of All Pakistan Federation of Labor (APFOL) and their ability to develop sound industrial
relations and social dialogue with employees at all levels

Targeted Outcome:
o 8 trainings will be conducted
o 250 participants from different CBOs will be facilitated with these trainings and adopt
