International Petition for the Condemnation of the Use of Violence by Security Forces Against the Citizens in Bahrain

Date: 05/12/2005

“International Petition for the Condemnation of the Use of Violence by Security Forces Against the Citizens in Bahrain”*

The undersigned are extremely worried and express their condemnation about the incidents of the security aggressions on a group of the national proceedings in The Kingdom of Bahrain by the use of the excessive violence to disperse the participating peaceful citizens with peacefulness in those proceedings.

It is mentioned that these aggressions are not the first of their kind but is a series of aggressions by the security forces. This continuous violation of human rights requires the instant intervention from civil society institutions and the international authorities for the protection of the citizens.

The security authorities in The Kingdom of Bahrain use violence as a way to disperse the participating citizens and these violent security measures are violating the agreements and the international treaties that state the human rights principles.

In this framework we, the undersigned, demand the Bahraini authorities to put a stop to those aggressions and we demand an instant, neutral and transparent investigation of those incidents. We also demand presenting those responsible for the violations to a trial, and that the victims receive compensations for physical and psychological damage.
