Mission:

Create a robust "knowledge ecology" in UAE, extending from excellent grade school education at the most basic level up to internationally renowned "centers of excellence" at the highest level.

Objectives:
Improve teaching of science, and make learning more fun, at elementary and high school levels.
Provide sustained support to Emiratis with interest and aptitude for advanced study and research.
Increase the prestige of science and scientists in the UAE.
Create select centers of scientific excellence in UAE.


2009 Programmes:

Grants For Enhancement Of Science & Engineering Laboratory Classrooms
The Emirates Foundation invites colleges and universities to submit an application for funding the installation or upgrade of laboratory classrooms for chemistry, physics, biology, geology, information technology and/or different engineering disciplines. Two or more of the applicants will be selected (through a competitive process) to receive funding. A total grant budget of AED 1 million is available to be distributed among them.


Ph.D. Fellowships Programme
Scientific and Technological competence is a key component of national development and a high priority for UAE leadership. One of the Emirates Foundation's core objectives is to help build a cadre of UAE advanced students and accomplished professionals in science and technology. In a competitive process, the Emirates Foundation will fund talented young UAE nationals to complete their PhD degrees at high caliber international universities in the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Science.

Call for Research Proposals
The Emirates Foundation (EF) is committed to supporting scientific research as part of its effort to promote technological and scientific advancement in the United Arab Emirates.

The Foundation is pleased to announce a call for submission of original research proposals up the amount of AED 200,000 per application in the following areas:
Science and Engineering
Information Technology
Environmental Sciences


Proposals from university researchers need to undergo internal review and evaluation by the University/Institutional research division as per the attached evaluation form for referees. The research division (or equivalent authority) submits the completed application with the completed evaluation form to the Foundation.
