History of LAAS
The name of NGO is Legion Against Adversities of Society (LAAS). It is a Pushtu Word and it means hand. It means to give hand to some one, to support someone and to give a caring touch to needy and those who are in miseries. It was formed by a group of development professionals soon after the earthquake (October 2005). It was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in April 2007 with Joint Stock Companies & Societies, NWFP Peshawar. It’s Registration No: 1467/ 5/4966.
Goal
Harnessing peoples’ potential to alleviate their poverty and to awake their spirit of self reliance
Aims & Objectives
§ To bridge the existing gap between the community and the Government
§ To enhance capacity of locals to alleviate their poverty
§ To promote the concept and spirit of self-help, self-reliance and self-
management among the rural community
§ To mobilize local resources
§ To work as humanitarian agency during disaster in Pakistan
